We Let It Be… in the heart

I was blessed with this video that might make you smile. It is a clip from a 2008 awards program designed to honor abolitionists from around the world who had courageously assisted others in coming to freedom. Many of us who were involved with this celebration are still offering systems of support that encourage the enslaved to run from the slaveholder into safety where they find shelter, food, and caring people who help them heal and contribute again to their villages. This was a triumphant celebration and The Agape International Choir did what we came to do… Glow Up! The Universe provided so many opportunities for us to bring our best love to events such as the Freedom Awards where the late great Archbishop Desmond Tutu was on his feet dancing to We Let It Be; second soprano Peggy Zimmerman who has since passed on but is looking so strong and vibrant; Jason Powell singing with his whole heart; Ted Talk presenters, Sir Ken Robinson and Jill Nolte Taylor, the incredible band of Rob McDonald, David Neal, Idris Hestor and David Odom. I tell you, that night was a night to remember. Recently, my dear friend and producer of the Freedom Awards and founder of Voices4Freedom.org, Peggy Callahan, called me looking for “this song.” She wouldn’t sing it over the phone but instead sent this video clip that brought the evening back to life. I just loved watching the video and feel blessed to have written songs that remain in people’s hearts that way. Peggy would say, “That’s pretty cool!”
